After recent testing at toronto smax finally cross graded his FIA
licence and has been able to compete at the IHRA canadian nationals in toronto unfortunately following a bit of damage from the test session smax only got his 2 blocks back 7 pm thurs nite so the thrash was on to prepare 2 short blocks-one dropped into chassis and load n go to the track
fri morn we had to unload and prepare and mike-arran and smax beavered
away until rest of crew arrived.
The scheduled 630 ist qualifier was brought fwd to 3pm as weather was
forecast rain yet agian!!!!
this put enormous pressure on the team but with 5 mions to spare we
fixed everything and fired up but no oilpressure????
we thought can only be guage and on checking braided guage line found it was melted inside due to the small fire from last w/end we only had line with no fittings and despite trying to blank off the fittings for the guage we missed the call
next day we made session 2 but car moved a little and i had to pedal to keep off the wall resulting in a 6.33@232 mph we had hoped for a 5.70 and investigation discovered the pressure control for the timers had
backed off giving too little line pressure and the cannon never moved
back so did the 1/4 on the primaries!!!!!!also our nitro guage was 3 %
off so we fixed everything and put 89 % back in and was ready 2 do
battle -especial;ly as we qualified ahead of bob gilbertson and just
behind vinnie arcadia
we warmed up sun morn and everything was just aces we towed to the line
and we were to race terry haddock we fired and rolled fwd but disaster-the fitting at the pump for the oil line to no 5 main cracked and leaked oil so we had to shut off handing a single to terry
we were gutted as it never leaked in the pits and were to perform in ft
of our home crowd-stands were packed but still at least it didn t happen on the run
we aim to test again soon o bring the car into the race window!!!!!!
meanwhile aidee had dialled his altered in and won his first round
dialling a 11.45 and ran 11.5 (weather and track pretty crap)
unfortunately the semis were cancelled due to rain and most people left
but they were gonna try n run rest monday but we had had enough rain 4
one w/end everyday in everyway we get better n better-someone once said.........
stay tuned
