Smax narrrowly lost out to Andy Carter at the Eliminations stage at the Pod this weekend but was delighted they set the quickest side by side run outside Europe during the race. "It can get a little tedious hearing long lists of thank you's from racers," said Smax, "but I have to pay tribute to the supercrew we have for their fantastic work over the last couple ofmonths but especially at the track since the middle of last week."

"These guys built a car at the track in less than ideal conditions and turned out a really fast piece of kit. Thier attention to detail in getting things right was awesome and words fail me in heaping praise on them."

The car was tuned by Alan with no real data as we had up to the race only done a 60 ft "squirt" with this car & it had never ran a four! I just beat Andy off the line & also would have run a 4.8 but a bad set of spark plugs from Don Prudhomme resulted in a electrode holding an exhaust valve & burning the seat slowing us to a stout 4.96/286. A superb job by Alan Jackson & the crew. I don t want to take anything away from Andy's fine win & superb record breaking 4.83 - great racing with you mate & we will step up for Finland!!! The standing ovation being towed down the return road was something else. Watch out for lower ETs from the Promise Dream machine.
